Speaking Portuguese

Portuguese is not an easy language to learn!  But I'm trying my best.  Here are a few of the useful phrases I've learned so far.  Lots of words and spellings are similar to Spanish, but the pronunciation is so different!



Good morning!-  Bom dia!
Good night!-  Boa noite!
How's it going?-  Tudo bem?
What is your name?-  Qual e` seu nome?
Where are you from?-  De onde e` voce?
I live in NY.-  Eu moro em NY.
How old are you?-  Quantos anos voce tem?
Do you have a pen?-  Voce tem uma caneta?
I have to go to the bathroom.-  Tenho que ir a bano.
I don't know.-  Nao sao.
How do you say... in Portuguese?-  Como se fala... em Portuguese?
Do you understand me?-  Voce me entende?
Where is the bank?-  Onde fica o banco?
Go away.-  Vai embora.
I am teaching children in Salvador.-  Eu estou esinando filhos em Salvador.
I'd like to return soon.-  Quero voltar prontamente.
